Wounded giant by Long-Pham Wounded giant by Long-Pham
I didn't think this image would get so much exposure and nice comments :) thanks everyone.

Here is a disturbed planetary system. The moon is too close of it's mother planet. It was thrown of it's original orbit by interference from the third moon.
They are very close and will ultimately collide with each other. But before that the immense gravitational forces between the two heavenly bodies will tear down the moon's crust and transform it into a huge ball of magma.

Original size :
4700*7500 pixels
A few hours of work
Many stock images used here for planetary textures, particularly for the orbital view.
Thanks to bakhoo who pointed out that the photo used was a satellite view of Black Rock city, Nevada. He even created an account expressly to say that xD

Feel free to comment and critic as always.

In a scenario such as this, would this actually happen? The "the immense gravitational forces between the two heavenly bodies will tear down the moon's crust and transform it into a huge ball of magma" part?
